BT Top brass call for UK regulators to acknowledge that there are issues in the UK for new Business start up's that wish to operate a "PAY TV" operation targeting British UK customers. The Boss of BT retail devision has made a statement regarding SKY UK "BSKYB" and asks that they give new comers a chance to attract new customers. He went on to say "Look at this market – two companies have been and gone in this market in two years"
MARK WATSON pictured above addressed journalists at the Broadcasting Press Guild Luncheon held at the London Dorchester Hotel, Park Lane, Mayfair. As new entrants in to the UK British pay TV market BT have not been shy opening up the cheque book and investing in Sporting events rights.
BT SPORTS have secured many Sporting events that had historically for many years been in the BSKYB line up after spending what is rumoured to be as much as 1 Billion to get BT SPORTS up and running are committed to an estimated £500 million a year in ongoing costs. How quickly BT will see a return on this level of investment is unknown and not yet guesstimated.
"We intend to stick around in this for the long term, we aren't that easy to chase out of town," he said. "We do have the deep pockets to really compete in the market. With all due respect to other companies, we are not Setanta and we are not ESPN."
