Freesat the UK FREE SATELLITE TV provider has finally debuted the much anticipated iOS application for use with its hybrid Freetime box range.
The new Freesat TV application, which has eventually made its debut in the Apple Store on Thursday provides streaming on both iPhone and iPads.
Freesat Managing Director Emma Scott told www.mrskytv.com that the home page concept seen on the Freetime PVR and zapper boxes had been extended to the app.
However, there were also ideas that would transfer from the app to a new version of the EPG.
VOD or catch up TV services are now becoming very popular with UK satellite TV subscribers and also people that use iplayer.
What is the Future of UK British Television on the Spanish Costa del Sol? Now that it looks like the New Astra 2E satellite will possibly leave thousands without BBC1, ITV or BBC2 as new satellite
"DO NOT PANIC & DO NOT END UP WITH A CHEAP QUICK FIX"
With many advertisements and promotions taking place along the Spanish Costa del Sol and many new start up Businesses popping up in the local Newspapers many British Families have been tempted by "cheap" offers of FREE UK TV that later leave them feeling conned and cheated as the sellers are often trading off a mobile phone that will soon be thrown away and swapped for a new number and a new Company name.
Take Diane & Terry from San Pedro that responded to an advert seen in a local free paper that advertised "All the Sports, All the Movies BBC + ITV & More" Terry explained to us that after reading several News reports that everyone should get ready for THE BIG SWITCH OFF that he now thinking back stupidly handed over hard earned cash to a man in a English plated Mercedes in a car- park in Marbella only to find that what he had purchased was a cheap imported android box that had not been programed to allow access to anything other than some Russian content.
After contacting the owners of this Blog in order to warn other of his experience Terry was pleasently suprised when we organised one of our tech savvy engineers to delete everything off of this box that he had been sold and then loaded XBMC that allows him to watch Filmon although in hindsight they could have done that with their PC so really it was €250 down the drain.
With Xmas almost upon us and with Terry's Family coming to stay with them over the Festive season Terry had seen the advertisement and agreed to purchase a IPTV box and remote control that turned out to be useless for watching British TV and to add insult to injury the remote control was not even compatible with the unit supplied by the supplier.
Terry told us that "I trusted this person to supply me with what we had agreed on" as with most purchases in Spain you need to be vigilant and always insist on a receipt and always make sure that the Company is SL registered or at least get an NIE number if it is a one man band.
It has been 3 weeks since Terry parted with his money and despite numerous calls and text messages so far all he has been told is that the person he dealt with has returned to the UK and that they know nothing about it, when Terry asked for the Company name they put the telephone down, he then approached the Newspaper where the advert was placed and it turns out the advert was paid for in cash and that a Lady from Benalmadena had placed the advert so Terry decided to place a denouncia against this Lady to get his money back, it now appears that the NIE number and the name are fictitious. Due to legal resons we are unable to name the persons responsible until the Police have investigate the matter although Terry says "I am not holding my breath"
NEVER HAND OVER CASH IN A CAR-PARK or MOTORWAY SERVICES
When looking at purchasing an IPTV box in Spain, we would recommend that you follow the following steps to GUARANTEE that you do not have any issue with your new IPTV BOX.
1. GET A RECEIPT OR A FACTURA
2. MAKE SURE THE COMPANY IS SL REGISTERED
3. ALWAYS "INSIST" THAT THE IPTV BOX IS INSTALLED
4. NEVER PAY UPFRONT
5. ASK FOR A LOCAL RECOMMENDATION
6. ASK FOR A DEMO
7. ASK WHAT CHANNELS YOU WILL RECEIVE
8. ASK TO BE E-MAILED ALL OF THE INFORMATION
By insisting on a receipt or a factura you have proof of your purchase, and by using a SL registered Company you are able to insist on a CIF number that acts as both a Company registration number and the Companies VAT number (IVA) this proof of purchase not only acts as proof that you purchased your IPTV box from this supplier but also acts as Guarantee as all goods sold within the EU are now subject to a 24 months Manufacturers warranty by Law.
OK so lets assume that you turned on your TV and no longer have BBC1 or ITV and you have decided that you want to purchase an IPTV box what should you do? Well the first thing to insist on is that any Company that you approach should be able to offer not only a full installation of the IPTV box but also spend 10-15 minutes showing you how the box works as often some IPTV boxes are not as straight forward as using a SKY+HD box for example. When contacting an IPTV supplier NEVER agree to making any upfront payments and never handover any credit card details or make any type of payment until the IPTV box has been installed and you are totally satisfied with what you have been supplied and have checked that all of the channels that are important to you are working and that the picture is OK.
It is no secret that many start up here today
and gone tomorrow traders are looking to cash in on the situation and will be looking to pull every trick in the book so make sure you insist on seeing everything working in your home. You are entitled to ask any supplier for a couple of local recommendations of satisfied and happy existing customers so ask, if you are told that this is not possible try another supplier. Always make sure you know who you are dealing with, can the supplier e-mail you everything they just said over the telephone by e-mail so that everything is in writing? This is a great way of protecting yourself further as it is another piece of evidence that in addition to your proof of purchase also confirms what the purpose of the product is and confirms what the products features and capabilities are, this is particularly handy when you run in to issues and the product becomes "unfit for purpose" as the product cannot provided the services and or channels that where originally offered by the supplier.
Be specific with the supplier and ask exactly what channels you will receive and who will you be receiving the channels from as some boxes really on streams that are provided by private individuals and or Companies that upload the content for FREE and then can close down without warning.
With many different options available and many different types of IPTV solutions available on the Market it can be confusing although if you follow our guide you are afforded some extra protection and will ensure that you are getting what you need instead of what they want to sell you.
This type of IPTV box in the video below is a "GI Geniussatellite receiver and a IPTV box in one" and sold by www.mrskytv.com who have been trading for almost 12 years in Spain and are fully SL registered. Notice how the demonstration not only describes what the box can do but also actually shows you the channels etc.

SKY HD BOXES WITH WIFI AVAILABLE IN SEPTEMBER 2013
Sky UK announce the launch of a new Sky+HD box in
September 2013, The New highly sort after HD satellite box with integrated wireless internet connection as standard is already in demand. A spokesperson from www.mrskytv.com said "We already have 55 of these boxes pre-sold"
It
will become the version offered to new Sky HD subscribers and will help
the channel ensure more of its customers are hooking up to the company's
catch-up TV and on-demand services.
As the Raspberry Pi craze sweeps the internet, you might have found yourself wanting to purchase the little computer to see what projects you can use it for. You may have thought to yourself that even if you can’t think of a nifty project, who cares, because the higher-end Model B is only $35. However, is it really that cheap when all is said and done?
I recently ordered my first Raspberry Pi. I could never figure out what to do with it, but have wanted one simply because it’s a cheap, intriguing little computer. While waiting for the delivery over the past few days, I began browsing through project ideas, which in turn led me to RasPi accessories. I bought a case — a Pibow — which I’ve always wanted more than the Raspberry Pi itself, and Pi requires a microUSB power cable, so I bought that as well. Now, my $35 Pi purchase is already 0ver $65, including shipping costs. That’s still affordable, but it got me thinking: If you wanted to build a proper computer from scratch using a Raspberry Pi, exactly how much would it cost in the end? For what is touted as the $25 (or $35) computer, the answer might surprise you.
The goal here is not to rely on parts you may have lying around the house. You might have all sorts of gear in the attic, but not everyone does. And a school or business that is buying multiple RasPis almost certainly doesn’t have enough displays, keyboards, power supplies, and WiFi dongles lying around.
Here’s what’s necessary: •Raspberry Pi, Model B: $35. For tinkerers there is no reason to buy one of the $25 units when the $35 model is available. •Pibow case: $20. The most popular case for the Pi. •MicroUSB 5V power cable, at least 700mA: $5. You can find these pretty easily from Newegg or Amazon. •USB keyboard and mouse: $15 •HDMI monitor: $120. Like when building any computer, the price skyrockets when you realize you need a monitor. You’ll likely want to take advantage of the RasPi’s HDMI port, and want a widescreen monitor. You can hunt around for a cheaper deal, but $120 is about average for a smallish LCD with HDMI. •HDMI cable: $3. If you don’t care about brand, you can snag a gold-tipped HDMI cable for pretty cheap nowadays. •SD card: $7. The Pi uses an SD card as its only storage device. You can get away with a 4GB card, so no need to spend too much. •Ethernet cord: $6. •Speakers: $12. This will get you some cheap Logitech speakers.
So, with everything you need to get a Raspberry Pi up and running, it’ll cost you $91 without an HDMI-capable monitor. With an HDMI monitor at an average price, it’ll cost you $211. With speakers, you’ll have to invest at least $223 for a rather modest computer system.
If you want to add some unnecessary, but ultimately useful pieces there are other components to consider. With a larger SD card, say a 32GB unit, you’ll have to spend another $20. Want WiFi? A USB dongle will cost around $12, but then you’ll be blocking one of the two precious USB ports, so you’ll need to add on the price of a USB hub and perhaps a stronger power supply. At that point, we’re already over $250 for a 700MHz computer with 512MB of RAM. With shipping costs, you’re potentially ramping the total up to around $300. I live in the US, and the Pi and Pibow alone added up to a little over $20 shipping.
For comparison, a brand new Samsung Chromebook will cost you $325, whereas an older one will cost you $249. Acer’s C7 Chromebook sells for just $199. At around $400, you can start looking into some decently powerful, name-brand laptops, such as a Lenovo G580 with a 2.4GHz Core i3 chip, 4GB RAM, and 500GB of storage.
If you happen to have most of the components lying around, including a monitor with HDMI, the Raspberry Pi will only cost you the $25 or $35 depending on the model, and a $10 case or so. Of course, you can bargain hunt and try your very best to stay below $100, but the monitor will still prove a tricky situation, with the cheapest we’ve seen (without too much hunting, to be fair) being this $89 Asus on Amazon.
So, while a very tiny $35 computer is a great deal, the price can quickly approach that of much more powerful machines. Granted, the Pi is intended as more of a project board than as a standard computer, but in most cases, the project is going to require extra parts, and those cost money.

Loss of British BBC1 ITV channels on the satellite tvon the Costa del Sol Spain
Loss of British SKY TV satellite tv Torre del Mar, Malaga, Salobrena, Chilches
Loss of British UK satellite tv Vinuela, Mijas Costa, Sotogrande
Why are we loosing our TV channels in Spain?
The big TV switch off in Spain
IPTV MARBELLA – “COSTA
DEL SOL TV SHAKE UP” British
residents and Holiday Home owners are bracing themselves for the big switch
over in the Winter of 2013 (aprox) with UK Freesat channels such as BBC ITV CH4
being moved over to Astra
2F The new satellite designed to provide a tighter beam on the UK that will leave many Brits without UK TV in Spain & Portugal. This is what is being printed in the gutter press.
There are
various reports on the internet & in English Newspapers about the switch
over however “NOBODY KNOWS 100%” what the position will be when the channels
change over as some transponders may be stronger than others. SO DO NOT PANIC
Why is there a changeover with the satellites? What is the latest news with Astra 2F? Why are the BBC changing the satellites over? Who is to blame for the chengeover? Will we loose UK TV in Marbella? Why is the Euroweekly printing FALSE stories designed to SCARE people?
STATEMENT BY THE BBC
Alix Pryde a Director
of the BBC said “The overspill of the BBC’s services will be reduced so viewers
outside the UK
will find it even harder to receive them. I know that this causes unhappiness
to some of you living outside the UK. However, it is entirely
appropriate because the BBC domestic services are for people living in the UK
only” She also says "I’m conscious that there is currently some speculation about the timing of
forthcoming moves of BBC services between satellites and the reason for these
changes"
Why have they got to changeover the satellites?
If she was honestly "Conscious" about just how upset & worried many Brits in Spain, Portugal, France and Germany are about this something would be done.
Did you know that Alix Pryde gets paid £120’000 a year by
the BBC?
A Marbella resident
who also owns a property in the UK said; “I
think Alix Pryde needs to wake up and realize that most of us pay her wages
every year when we pay for our TV License fee and not allowing your product to
be used sold or Distributed in Europe as a FREE MARKET is laughable” he went on
to say “When I read her statement I sent her an e-mail and got no response and
I think that everyone in Spain should e-mail her and demand that she widen the
beam so that we can at least watch some BBC or ITV” I am now e-mailing my Euro MP to follow this up (no response yet)
Living in Australia? You can watch all of the BBC channels on a channel operated by FOXTEL
So whilst Spain faces the "Loss of UK Television" on the Spanish Costa del Sol, people in Australia are enjoying both BBC & ITV channels! Also; Alix Pryde said "The overspill of the BBC’s services will be reduced so viewers outside the UK will find it even harder to receive them. I know that this causes unhappiness to some of you living outside the UK. However, it is entirely appropriate because the BBC domestic services are for people living in the UK only.
This statement is a complete pack of lies.
Unfortunately we have been unable to get an e-mail address for Alix Pryde but we have sent the BBC a complaint. If you can find an e-mail address for Alix Pryde please let us know.
Copy of our complaint to the BBC;
Your Complaint
Type of complaint:General BBC
Complaint category:Offence against EU ruling
Contacted us before:No
Complaint title:No BBC in Spain
Complaint description:Hello We read a statement by Alix Pryde on the BBC
blog that "The overspill of the BBC’s services will be reduced so viewers
outside the UK will find it even harder to receive them. I know that this causes
unhappiness to some of you living outside the UK. However, it is entirely
appropriate because the BBC domestic services are for people living in the UK
only"
If this is the case why is Foxtel broadcasting Eastenders and other BBC TV
shows in Australia? http://www.foxtel.com.au/whats-on/tv-guide/default.htm
The
BBC is in Europe, the EU directive specifically states that there are no
borders, why is the BBC about to cut off over 200'000 people in Spain?
LOSS OF UK TV COSTA DEL SOL
Why does the
BBC not want millions of British Ex-Pats to watch TV? Did you know that ITV
Granada now provide programming for a Thai satellite broadcaster in Thailand? Well
they do, also the BBC broadcast the BBC News channel worldwide why not BBC1 or
BBC2?
According to European Law;
DIRECTIVE 89/552/EEC -
"TELEVISION WITHOUT FRONTIERS"
The Directive aims to ensure the free
movement of broadcasting services within the internal market
and at the same time to preserve certain public interest objectives, such as
cultural diversity, the right of reply, consumer protection and the protection
of minors. It is also intended to promote the distribution and production of
European audiovisual programmes, for example by ensuring that they are given a
majority position in television channels' programme schedules.
General principle
The Directive establishes the principle
that Member States must ensure freedom of reception and that they may not
restrict retransmission on their territory of television programmes from other
Member States. They may, however, suspend retransmission of television
programmes which infringe the Directive's provisions on the protection of
minors.
Is Alix Pryde not aware of this Law? And
why did they close the thread on that Blog? The reason is because people are
upset & fed up so why did Alix Pryde not respond to anyone? How arrogant is
that! £120K a year very nice!
What is your thoughts on this? We would
like to hear from you.
HOW COMES THAT WHENEVER YOU CHECK IN A HOTEL ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD YOU CAN WATCH GERMAN TV, FRENCH TV, BUT NEVER UK BRITISH TV? WHY IS THAT? IT IS DISGUSTING IN OUR OPINION.
WHY ARE THE BBC ACTING IN THIS WAY?
UPDATE - DUE TO A RECENT ROCKET EXPLOSION (EURO WEEKLY FORGOT TO MENTION) NOTHING IS EXPECTED TO CHANGE UNTIL NOVEMBER - DECEMBER 2013. WE ONLY BELEIVE THAT THE COSTA DEL SOL WILL BE AFECTED.

UNHAPPY PEOPLE THAT HAVE PURCHASED RASPBERRY PI. BEST TO AVOID THESE SILLY LITTLE GADGETS THAT HAVE LEFT MANY OUT OF POCKET AND UPSET WITH THE LACK OF SUPPORT.
THIS IS A RECENT POST ON A IPTV BOARD WHERE SOME BOZO IS TRYING TO PUSH RASPBERRY PI AS A "REAL SOLUTION"
Jamie it is amazing how you spend so much time writing these long winded posts but still cannot tell us "What happens when Filmon get's shut down"
Raspberry PI is a waste of time and money. XBMC is the most annoying piece of software. RASPBMC is sketchy at best and always having issues Raspberry PI is best left to the enthusiasts
Get your head out of the sand! Please STOP pushing this rubbish, you are not kidding anyone. Stop pushing a product that is going to leave many people upset, out of pocket, confused and upset. Many people want a premium service with premium channels.
We noticed that you do not even have a mobile number on your website, we wonder why? LOL my number is 965 070 458 call me whenever you want to tell me what your alternatives are to Filmon that rae already in your boxes.
Who is going to give support when things go wrong with PI? You? Unlike the MAG-250 you cannot access the box remotely to change setting if needed, YES it is a £50 solution kind of, but it is NOT a suitable long term solution to Loss of UK TV in Spain. DO NOT LISTEN TO ME READ FOR YOURSELF
What you have to appreciate Jamie is that we believe that Raspberry PI "Is not a suitable solution in Spain" the No1 reason is that we would need to employ more staff to spend hours on end providing technical support as these PI circuit boards often crash, over heat they do not even come in a box, Raspbmc is always crashing.
Can you imagine how many phone calls we would need to answer when Filmon goes down leaving hundreds without BBC1 and ITV.
No idea what your agenda is as you are in the UK, I would however strongly suggest that you focus on your newly formed "dodgy enterprise" pushing crappy made in China £50 circuit boards rather than questioning our opinions or slating our products and or services.
We will not stop putting the PI down We will not stop warning people about the PI We will not allow you to fool people We will keep on telling people to "AVOID RASPBERRY PI BECAUSE IT IS USELESS"
Rolling around on the floor laughing... Jamie says "it is easy?" What a liar.
Jamie also says “In any case, there are alternatives to FilmOn. Those alternatives are already installed in the internet set-top boxes that I use”
Guess what? He still has not answered the question; "What are these alternatives that are already installed?" If your PI boxes do have an alternative I may have to review our position.
Nov 21st - Adrian said "Or you can fiddle around with a raspberry pi – which is not even a remote possibility for 99.9% of the people reading this thread ;-)"
Nov 20th - Adrian said "Jamie, I think you are missing the bigger picture here. Forget messing around with a Pi and XBMC — that’s strictly for Geeks."
Dec 20th - Paul said "I have to say that everything I have seen and read about raspberry pi, backs up what Mr Sky says. It does look extremely tricky from the videos I have watched, and I (also a fairly technically minded 66 year old, having programmed computers since 1963) would not be happy trying it!!"
It is not just us that think that the Raspberry PI is useless, annoying, frustrating and a waste of money take 5 mins to read all the upsetting posts on Facebook from people that have no TV.
Best
Regards
All the Team
PS - If you want to see just how frustrating & difficult XBMC is, you can download it for FREE right now on your PC or laptop, you can watch Youtube tutorials on how to set everything up, you can read lots of posts n the internet and learn about downloading repositories and how to set up your XBMC. The whole process is both complicated and mind numbingly complex. But "Dodgy" Jamie reckons it is "Easy" LOL
