We have had several reports of 1.37 and 1.7 poor quality satellite dishes doing the rounds on the Costa Blanca, after paying for a system a family in Alicante found that after 8pm they would get a "no satellite signal" message on the screen. The original installer no longer would answer the telephone and despite numerous assurances to pop back had not. 

A member of our team organised for one of our highly skilled and fully qualified & trained British Satellite Engineers to pay a visit to the couples home only to discover that the 1.7 satellite dish that they told was Famaval was a poor copy that had a small logo with a Polish Company name. It now appears that these dishes are Manufactured in China and Distributed by a Polish Company.

The dish had clearly been made using poor quality materials and left ridges every 2cm and a big hole in the centre. These dishes are 4 seperate pieces that have weleded together and then sanded down and painted and whilst they may work in Poland are a complete waste of time on the Costa Blanca. There are many new "start up" Companies that have recently appeared that are able to offer lower prices athat are passing of these poor quality dishes.

These dishes have also been seen being sold at a car boot sale near Gran Alacant & Los Alcazares and as far away as Ontinyent.

Loss of UK SKY TV (Spain) Costa del Sol residents face possible loss of sky tv & freesat satelklite tv

 

Unhappy Costa del Sol residents fear the possible loss of UK TV

Many British residents on the Southern Spanish Coast are growing anxious regarding the news of UK satellite TV signals being transferred to another satellite, that may result in the loss of UK TV channels such as BBC - ITV - CH4. 

Back in the 80's many British TV fans would rely on friends and a network of British EX-Pats that would bring VHS video tapes over from the UK along with real British sausages, bacon, HP sauce and the latest episode of Dallas or Coronation Street.

With many British Businesses trading on the Costa del Sol and most of the major supermarkets all having a "British" section it is crazy that the BBC have decided that BBC 1 & BBC 2 and possibly other channels such as ITV will no longer be available for FREE using a satellite receiver and a suitable satellite dish. It now looks like even a 3.1 metre satellite dish may not be big enough.

Several of the bigger Companies in Spain that specialise in Big satellite dish installations in Spain are waiting to see the results once all of the channels have been transferred. Many forums, blogs are filled with people asking "Are we going to loose SKY TV in Malaga?"

From the information available this is what we beleive to be a fair estimate; 

1. SKY TV such as SKY SPORTS 1,2,3,4 and most of the "premium" SKY channels will still be OK and customers with SKY+HD boxes and a good internet connection will be able to watch SKY TV channels, but will have to use BBCiplayer and ITV player to watch Eastenders and Corrie by using a special "chipped" router with a UK VPN. (we have them in stock)

2. SKY GO - Allows access to SKY premium channels via the "SKY GO"  suppliers such as SKY TV SPAIN who can set up a SKY GO account & provide a VPN mask router or web solution. This again will alllow access to SKY premium channels (payable to SKY UK) and UK on demand. The "on demand" service from SKY is amazing as it allows access to BOX SETS and CATCH UP TV via the internet.  For SKY GO e-mail us here

3. FREESAT - The FREESAT TV channels are rumoured to be disapperaing and will no longer be a solution for BBC and possibly ITV in Malaga, Andalucia, Marbella, Feuengirola, Sotogrande.

SKY TV will be the platform for new BT SPORTS channels.

BT have announced that there new BT SPORTS channel will launch in August on the SKY platform, BT have secured the “exclusive” on many of the Barclays Premier League matches and BT have confirmed that they have secured Lawrence Dallaglio who will be the resident rugby guy and CH4 racing’s Clare Balding will also have a regular slot on the new Sports channel.

Whilst this sounds like SKY & BT are working together, it is clear that there are still unasnwered and un-agreed  agreements relating to pricing as BT have said that they will undercut SKY in the lucrative pub broadcasting business that generates millions of pounds of income for sky every month.

Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie landed at Murcia airport yesterday by private jet  after a 14 night Holiday aboard a Yacht charter in Phuket

Diners where left open mouthed as Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie spent several hours at a restaurant in the square in Los Montesinos. The couple who arrived in two mercedes s-class with two bodyguards and several nannies took up 5 tables on the terrace and enjoyed a leisurely lunch having viewed a huge property in Los Montesinos. 

Local Businessman Jason Harding of www.mrskytv.com said “I was walking out to the terrace when a small child come running in to the restaurant chased by Brad Pitt” he went on to say “They looked like they where having fun despite the big crowd that gathered around just staring, that would really get on my nerves but I suppose they are used to it” the owner of Bar Campana said "This is the not the first time that the couple had visited" 


As more Paparazzi arrived the couple decided to leave.

Why Los Montesinos? Brad Pitt who was Filming in Monte Pego   last year became friends with one of the crew who was celebrating his 40th Birtday in Fortuna in Murcia last night and had helped the family in looking for suitable properties. 

So when will Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie be moving to Los Montesinos?

This is the property that they where looking at that is currently listed with local Estate Agents Casas Amor after several telephone calls the owner Dee Ralph refused to comment.

There are various reports on the internet & in English Newspapers about the switch over however “NOBODY KNOWS 100%” what the position will be when the channels change over as some transponders may be stronger than others. SO DO NOT PANIC

STATEMENT BY THE BBC

Alix Pryde a Director of the BBC said “The overspill of the BBC’s services will be reduced so viewers outside the UK will find it even harder to receive them. I know that this causes unhappiness to some of you living outside the UK. However, it is entirely appropriate because the BBC domestic services are for people living in the UK only”   She also says "I’m conscious that there is currently some speculation about the timing of forthcoming moves of BBC services between satellites and the reason for these changes"

Why have they got to changeover the satellites?

If she was honestly "Conscious" about just how upset & worried many Brits in Spain, Portugal, France and Germany are about this something would be done.

Did you know that Alix Pryde gets paid £120’000 a year by the BBC?

A Marbella resident who also owns a property in the UK said; “I think Alix Pryde needs to wake up and realize that most of us pay her wages every year when we pay for our TV License fee and not allowing your product to be used sold or Distributed in Europe as a FREE MARKET is laughable” he went on to say “When I read her statement I sent her an e-mail and got no response and I think that everyone in Spain should e-mail her and demand that she widen the beam so that we can at least watch some BBC or ITV” I am now e-mailing my Euro MP to follow this up (no response yet)

The BBC is in Europe, the EU directive specifically states that there are no borders, why is the BBC about to cut off over 200'000 people in Spain?

Why does the BBC not want millions of British Ex-Pats to watch TV? Did you know that ITV Granada now provide programming for a Thai satellite broadcaster in Thailand? Well they do, also the BBC broadcast the BBC News channel worldwide why not BBC1 or BBC2?

According to European Law;

DIRECTIVE 89/552/EEC - "TELEVISION WITHOUT FRONTIERS"

The Directive aims to ensure the free movement of broadcasting services within the internal market and at the same time to preserve certain public interest objectives, such as cultural diversity, the right of reply, consumer protection and the protection of minors. It is also intended to promote the distribution and production of European audiovisual programmes, for example by ensuring that they are given a majority position in television channels' programme schedules.

General principle

The Directive establishes the principle that Member States must ensure freedom of reception and that they may not restrict retransmission on their territory of television programmes from other Member States. They may, however, suspend retransmission of television programmes which infringe the Directive's provisions on the protection of minors.

Is Alix Pryde not aware of this Law? And why did they close the thread on that Blog? The reason is because people are upset & fed up so why did Alix Pryde not respond to anyone? How arrogant is that! £120K a year very nice!

Jamie it is amazing how you spend so much time writing these long winded posts but still cannot tell us "What happens when Filmon get's shut down"

Raspberry PI is a waste of time and money.
XBMC is the most annoying piece of software.
RASPBMC is sketchy at best and always having issues
Raspberry PI is best left to the enthusiasts

Get your head out of the sand! Please STOP pushing this rubbish, you are not kidding anyone. Stop pushing a product that is going to leave many people upset, out of pocket, confused and upset. Many people want a premium service with premium channels.

We noticed that you do not even have a mobile number on your website, we wonder why? LOL my number is 965 070 458 call me whenever you want to tell me what your alternatives are to Filmon that rae already in your boxes.

Who is going to give support when things go wrong with PI? You? Unlike the MAG-250 you cannot access the box remotely to change setting if needed, YES it is a £50 solution kind of, but it is NOT a suitable long term solution to Loss of UK TV in Spain.

What you have to appreciate Jamie is that we believe that Raspberry PI "Is not a suitable solution in Spain" the No1 reason is that we would need to employ more staff to spend hours on end providing technical support as these PI circuit boards often crash, over heat they do not even come in a box, Raspbmc is always crashing.

Can you imagine how many phone calls we would need to answer when Filmon goes down leaving hundreds without BBC1 and ITV.

No idea what your agenda is as you are in the UK, I would however strongly suggest that you focus on your newly formed "dodgy enterprise" pushing crappy made in China £50 circuit boards rather than questioning our opinions or slating our products and or services.

We will not stop putting the PI down
We will not stop warning people about the PI
We will not allow you to fool people
We will keep on telling people to "AVOID RASPBERRY PI BECAUSE IT IS USELESS"

Guess what? He still has not answered the question; "What are these alternatives that are already installed?" If your PI boxes do have an alternative I may have to review our position.

It is not just us that think that the Raspberry PI is useless, annoying, frustrating and a waste of money take 5 mins to read all the upsetting posts on Facebook from people that have no TV.

PS - If you want to see just how frustrating & difficult XBMC is, you can download it for FREE right now on your PC or laptop, you can watch Youtube tutorials on how to set everything up, you can read lots of posts n the internet and learn about downloading repositories and how to set up your XBMC. The whole process is both complicated and mind numbingly complex. But "Dodgy" Jamie reckons it is "Easy" LOL
