BSKYB "SKY TV UK" Suprise the Market with huge profit annoncement

Story by – Jeremy Stenton-Jones   02/05/2013
SKY experiences slow down in new subscriptions but increase in subscription fees.

With a slow down in new customers, SKY has surprised the market by posting strong results with a 7% growth and 9.5% increase in profits. And analysts have been surprised at the demand of “one demand” TV services as consumers rush to embrace the new LED SMART TV technologies that allow the viewer a far more interactive experience as many TV shows can be viewed on demand. The on demand service has become a massive market as people often with busy lifestyles want to watch there favourite TV shows at a time that suits them and not the Broadcaster.

We asked Jason Harding from www.mrskytv.com what he thought of the latest increases in earnings “It does not surprise me as more people realise that the best possible “all in one box” solution is without a doubt SKY TV UK” he went on to say that “We have seen a massive increase in people wishing to upgrade to the premium channels and activate on demand services” with SKY UK posting income in excess of £5 Billion pounds and profits of almost one million pounds it is no surprise that City analysts have been taken by surprise by this news.

BSkyB’s share price opened this morning’s trading in London at 858 pence, 1.6 percent up yesterdays closing price of 844p. Early profit-taking has seen some up’s n downs, back to 854p at press-time and still well under the year’s high of 899.50 pence  on 19 March 2013.

BSKYB "SKY TV UK" SHARES RALLY

On demand was a very important growth booster with almost 5 million average weekly on demand downloads, an increase of 465% on the same time last year, and 3.2 million movie rental transactions, up 33% on last year.

The Sky Go the SKY TV  online internet based TV service added 200'000 unique users during the quarter, taking the total to 3.4 million. Sky Go Extra attracted 44,000 customers. Sky Movies boasted more than 205 million on demand views over the last 12 months and there were 1.6 million views of episodes from the first two seasons of Game of Thrones boosting the figures for Sky’s on-demand internet and satellite on demand services following the launch of the third season that has seen massive increases in viewers.

To help build the hype of “SKY TV ON DEMAND” services SKY have promised customers that they will get to see major new releases such as the widely anticipated “HANNIBAL” on SKY ATLANTIC on demand up to 7 days before general release. SKY have enjoyed great success with the HBO agreement that has provided so classic TV shows that appeal to a wide audience.

IPTV & SKY TV MARBELLA - SKY TV & FREESAT TV With the loss of channel 5 from Astra 2F signaling the possibility of receiving BBC ITV CH4 etc on a satellite dish in Marbella many people are looking at alternatives such as IPTV (internet TV)

With many options a solution can be found including SMART TV with special router so that you can use SKY GO and BBC iplayer and other streams as SKY SPORTS in Marbella will still be available on a 1.3 metre dish. We are still awaiting the transfer of all channels on to Astra 2F before we make judgement.

ENGLISH TELEVISION ON THE COSTA BLANCA SPAIN - TORREVIEJA SATELLITE TV - MURCIA SKY TV - ALICANTE BRITISH TV - VALENCIA SATELLITE ENGINEERS

Story by – Jeremy Stenton-Jones   02/05/2013

ENGLISH TELEVISION ON THE COSTA BLANCA (Spain)
What are the options to receive English Television in Spain?

Can you watch English TV in Spain?
YES - All you need to watch "English TV in Spain" is a good quality satellite dish manufactured by Famaval and a suitable satellite receiver such as SKY or FREESAT, there are even boxes that allow you to bring your UK SKY CARD on Holiday with you.

Can I receive English TV via the internet (IPTV) rather than a satellite dish in Spain?

Yes - You can receive UK BRitish English Televison via the internet although some areas it is not posssible as the internet is not yet strong enough and some areas we are expecting to be overwhelnmed with bandwith expansion as residents in the Malaga area scramble to get IPTV with the fortvcoming chgangeover. The Costa Blanca and Valencia area will not be affected.

Dont forget to click the "LIKE" button at the bottom of the page & receive updates on IPTV via FACEBOOK AS IT HAPPENS

Since the launch of the Astra fleet of satellites SKY TV has pioneered the “pay tv” satellite tv market in the UK & Spain. The Spanish market in satellite TV has balloned in the past 15 years as more British families decide to leave the UK and move to Spain and also many Brits have Holiday Homes in Spain. The British families living in Spain are able to receive English TV using a satellite dish and either a sky box or freesat box, both platforms offer various types of boxes with sky leading the way with the 2TB SKY+HD BOX that’s sells for €595 although if you are going to record and keep a lot of your best TV shows or movies in HD then that extra memory makes a huge difference as you will not get “memory” full for a very long time with the ability to record up to 350 hours of TV.

SPECIAL OFFER TORREVIEJA AREA -

Interview with Jason Harding  mrskytv.com   facebook/mrskytv
We asked Jason what the situation is with dish sizes in the Torrevieja area;

"We could use a 1M dish at the minute, but July/Aug with the changeover we are 99.99% confident that 1.4 Famaval is the chap for the job as we are already receiving signals on a 1M from Astra 2F (CH5 & others) so we know that a 1.4 is ideal for Holiday property. If you where a resident on Costa Blanca and the space & budget where available I say go for a 1.9 so you do not get any pixilation in heavy rain particularly in Feb/March if you are not over during those months then 1.4 is fine. The 1.9 dish with HD Freesat is €795 so not always an option for many residents on the Costa Blanca that want "English Television"

This Freesat system will save you over €250 a year to Torresat & be 10 times better picture and reliability, + with the premium box you can record or pause live TV.

SKY TV or FREESAT English Television in Spain? Whats the best option?

Whilst some people say that SKY is the only choice, other people find that FREESAT is better as there are no monthly bills.

Sky Sports Germany LTD has been grabbing Media attention on the internet for a television advertisement produced ahead of this week's UEFA Champions League semi finals. The advert, that features a Spanish matador, bullfighting and what appears to be branded clothing, its a toungue out from German football toward all of Spanish football teams and is sure to upset many Spaniards (me included)

Take a look at the video here...

Anyhow, enjoy the video and let us know what you think of Sky Sports Germany's attempt at provocation. Did it work? or do you think it is a childish attempt to get a reaction from the Spanish Football fans?

SKY Muscles in on “CATCH UP TV” Business

Since 2008 online media has boomed, and the introduction of catch-up TV now hosting content by UK SKY TV has had a massive effect on the UK & Irelands video on demands growing market over the past nine months, and according to insiders at digital media consultancy Decipher the market will continue to grow as more consumers purchase “smart” TV’s that allow the viewing of TV shows and Movies via the internet with the push of a button. Initially SKY provided limited content supplied by ITV Granada in a joint venture, where Granada has been seen to be forwarded thinking with a tie in with broadcasters in SE Asia allowing British ex-pats access to Coronation Street and various other TV shows including the CI channel, History channel and all of the free to air broadcasts available in the UK & Ireland. SKY have moved forward rapidly after identifying the demand and have secured the top position having the biggest service available both in the amount of channels and content that is exclusively broadcasted by SKY.
