A US man convicted of illegally helping Iran launch its first satellite has been sentenced to eight years in prison. The Federal prosecution team had submitted that a sentence of 16 years would be suitable. Nader Modanlo was found guilty by the court of violating US Government sanctions.
In addition to the eight year sentence Modanlo was fined $10 million that equaled the financial benefit that he gained by organizing the launch of a satellite for the Iranian government in Russia in 2005.
